Fire Prevention

The Harmony Fire District, Fire Prevention Committee is continuously looking for new and different ways to accomplish a very important mission. Fire and Life Safety Education is the primary focus of the committee. There are several hundred man hours dedicated to educating the public about Fire Safety in the home and in the work place. We are actively looking for opportunities to educate the public on Fire and Life Safety.

On an annual basis, specifically during Fire Prevention Week, we visit area preschools and the elementary school to educate the students and staff on the importance of Fire Safety. Periodically, we will receive a special request to provide Fire and Life Safety Education.

We also assist in our community with observing Fire Evacuation Drills, conducting voluntary walk-through’s of area businesses, and witnessing tests of Fire suppression and detection systems. We continuously look for opportunities to familiarize ourselves with the area business and identify areas for improvement in the Fire Districts response and mitigation of the incidents.

We are currently working on several programs to increase our abilities to better serve the communities, they include:

  • An increased ability to offer fire and life safety education to different groups of people
  • A Smoke Detector exchange and installation program
  • A Carbon Monoxide Detector exchange and installation program
  • Pennsylvania Yellow Dot Program Participant
  • Fire Extinguisher Training Programs

Look for more programs to come in the future.
